How Varney Surfaces Started: Over 27 Years of Experience in Kent

Varney Surfaces began with a clear ambition: to deliver high-quality outdoor surfacing with honest advice, skilled workmanship and results that stand the test of time.

From ground work to building a business

In 1998, Justin Varney decided to start his own business. Having spent many years working for his father on large construction sites across Kent as a ground worker, Justin brought valuable practical experience and a strong work ethic to his new venture.

The business originally launched as Varney Fencing and Landscapes, renovating driveways, patios, paths and fencing for homeowners throughout the area. Over time, Justin focused his skills and attention increasingly on driveways, where his experience and eye for detail could make a real difference.

Early experience in resin surfacing

Varney Surfaces entered the resin industry well before resin driveways became as widely popular as they are today. That early experience gave the team time to understand the materials, preparation methods and installation techniques needed to produce durable, attractive finishes.

Today, many new resin companies have appeared. But resin surfacing involves far more than completing a one-day training course. It requires proper ground preparation, an understanding of the materials, attention to drainage and detail, and the experience to know how to handle the challenges of every individual project.

Experience that shows in every project

Varney Surfaces has completed hundreds of resin projects over more than ten years. That experience has built a deep understanding of the trade, including which suppliers provide the best materials, what works in real-world conditions and the common mistakes to avoid.

Justin still personally handles every enquiry and quotation. He remains involved throughout the process, guiding the team and making sure every project is completed to the highest possible standard. Our gallery of work reflects the care, quality and attention to detail that go into every installation.
